New activity - NASA’s GLOBE Goes to Camp Program
In an Australian first, Urban Camp is offering NASA’s GLOBE Goes to Camp program to schools from Term 2.
GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) is NASA’s initiative that connects students, teachers, scientists, and citizens to promote environmental science and learning. GLOBE Goes to Camp has been specifically developed for school groups on camp.
Urban Camp staff have been trained by NASA to deliver an interactive session at Urban Camp. Schools will then collect data during their city explorations and will upload real time data for analysis by NASA scientists in addition to participating in highly interactive and fun activities.
Urban Camp’s CEO Elizabeth Compton brought the program to Australia after attending the American Camps Association Conference. “The program will give a unique opportunity for students to hear directly from NASA scientists and understand how their observations will help NASA. It’s a really exciting program that we have worked with NASA on to customise for the Australian context and landscape.”
